What you should know about our Widow Sponsorship Projects

All of the women in our Program have children living at home with them, and are under their care. A typical home for these families consists of a small 2 – room house, located in a very poor and challenging area.

All of the women are Widows, and are struggling on a daily basis to care for themselves and the well being of their children. Some have already started a small business, while the majority are working various jobs to generate income. The average household income for the women in our program is less then $2 Canadian per day ($60 per month). The average number of children per family is between 3 & 4.

We have developed a Micro-Credit Program where we lend a small amount of money (a repayable loan) to those who qualify. Through the leadership of our Field Directors, we provide guidance on how to “start and maintain a small business,” and we expect accountability from each participant in the Program. The goal of our Micro-Credit Program is to help the women in our program reach a point of “self-sufficiency.”

Commitment
It is our intention to secure two Sponsors for each Widow in our program. To become a Widow Sponsor, we require our Sponsors to commit to a minimum sponsorship of $50 per month for at least one-year. We understand that financial circumstances can change, and some Sponsors might find themselves in a position where they will have to make difficult financial decisions. If you are unable to continue after one-year, or anytime after that, we understand. We simply ask that you would help us by providing a 60-day notice. This time frame is required in order for us to find someone to carry-on for you, and to ensure your Widow doesn’t miss a month of assistance.

Would you prayerfully consider becoming a Monthly Widow Sponsor?
